Mr. Bledsoe painted the life he viewed and lived in Shreveport, La.
 
The painting is acrylic on canvas by the self-taught Louisiana artist Edward Bledsoe. 
He was a native of Shreveport, Louisiana who grew up in the Stoner Hill section of the city. 
He spent most of his adult life in Angola Prison in Louisiana. 
 
He later died in a house fire rescuing a friend. 
 
This charming painting features an old country store with signs.  The painting is signed and dated lower right 1989. The painting is in a professional frame (original to the painting). Overall dimensions are approximately 16 1/2' x 20 1/2"including frame. His work is highly prized throughout the folk art community
